WHY THESE CLAY PRODUCTS ARE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER COOKING POTS :

Earthen Cookware is different from other unglazed cookware including unglazed terracotta pots (that have the red colour). The clay is secondary clay that has natural contaminants like mica. Also, in most cases is made using additives, plasticizers, feldspar, extenders, dyes, talc, petalite, deflocculants etc.Glazing is a disadvantage as it contains its own chemicals and toxins including lead and cadmium.No contaminants or toxins are added, it’s 100% primary clay, the highest quality natural clay without contaminants. Earthen Cookware is also the only cookware made from tested & certified primary clay.

CAN I PUT THE POT IN THE REFRIGERATOR?

​

Yes,You can put the pot in the refrigerator. They can go in the refrigerator. Let the pot & food cool down a little bit, if possible to room temperature, before putting it into the refrigerator. And if you want to take it out to heat the food in the same pot, take it out a little ahead of time to sit outside and come close to room temperature before putting it on the stove.

 

 

BEST WAY TO WASH CLAY COOKWARE

 

While some say it’s okay to put it in a dishwasher, hand washing is recommended. Extremetemperatures and harsh detergents may strip the seasoning and damage clay cookware.Allow the clay pot to cool completely after it has been taken from the oven and soak it for a few minutes in warm water to loosen any bits of food. To remove food items, use hot water without detergent and a gentle abrasive pad. To neutralize strong odours fill the pot with warm water and add two tablespoons of baking soda. Let the cookware soak for at least 15 minutes.For general and deep cleaning, allow the earthen pot to soak overnight in the sink in water mixed with baking soda. Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda per litre of hot water. Wash it using a soft bristle brush or non-metallic scrubbing pad. Do not use abrasive scouring powders because they will clog the pores and make the pot useless. Salt can be used as a non-toxic alternative to chemical cleaners. Sprinkle salt into the pot and scour it using a scouring pad. Rinse the pot with warm water and allow it to dry on.

If any mould forms during storage periods sprinkle baking soda inside the pot, then rinse with warm water using a brush to remove the mould.If clay pores become clogged, the pot should be cooked in boiling water for about 30 minutes.

Never use soap or detergent because the porous clay will absorb the soap. The detergent may leave an unpleasant soapy taste and this flavour will leach back into your next clay pot meal

WHAT IS A PALM LEAF PLATE OR BOWL ?.

As you can probably guess from the name, our palm leaf plates, bowls and platters are made from palm leaves. Palm leaves from the Areca palm tree in India to be precise! Almost 60 billion palm leaves fall to the ground every year from these trees! Once collected, the leaves are washed in locally sourced spring water and heat-pressed to make food packaging. The heat makes the products ready to eat from – and they keep their toughness until they are ready to go back into the soil when you compost them.
